Solving Simultaneous Equations
If two equations describe the same two unknown quantities, how can both equations help us pin down one exact pair of values? Each equation gives a relationship that the values must obey, so the solution must satisfy both relationships at the same time. This is the central idea of simultaneous equations. It applies here to pairs of linear equations in two variables, such as x and y.
