Place Value in Very Large and Very Small Numbers
Place value explains how a digit gains meaning from its position in a number. The same digit can represent a very large amount or a tiny fraction of one. This section describes positions on both sides of the decimal point and the factor-of-ten pattern between them. The England mathematics curriculum requires Key Stage 3 learners to understand and use place value for decimals, measures and integers of any size.
