Two developers receive the same request: add a feature to an application. One asks a chatbot for a code snippet and must decide where it belongs, apply it and check the result; the other assigns the development task to an AI coding agent that investigates the repository, plans changes, edits files and runs checks. What has changed is not merely the amount of code produced, but who can carry out the next steps towards a defined goal.
